Donna DeMaio, former president and chief executive of MetLife Bank, is joining United Guaranty as its chief operating officer.

The mortgage insurer said Friday that DeMaio will oversee many company operations, including sales, underwriting, loss management and domestic marketing.

DeMaio served at MetLife Bank since 2002, where she worked as chief financial officer and later CEO.

“Donna has long been a rising star in the business world,” United Guaranty President and CEO Kim Garland said in a news release. “Our culture is one of excellence, passion and servicing a larger purpose, and Donna embodies all of those qualities.”

DeMaio replaces Garland, who was promoted in February.
