LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc. said Wednesday that it was named the “Most Admired Company” in the mortgage services industry as part of Fortune magazine’s 2008 list of America’s Most Admired Companies. This is the second year in a row in which the company landed a spot on Fortune’s well-known list, and the fourth out of the five past years that LandAmerica has received the accolade. Fortune’s list is the result of surveying more than 3,700 executives, directors and security analysts. Within 64 industry categories, companies were ranked on eight criteria, from investment value to social responsibility. “I am proud of this designation as it honors our commitment to being a principled company delivering superior service to our customers,” said CEO Theodore Chandler, Jr. “This is especially meaningful after a year in which the economic environment challenged us to act with integrity, respect and teamwork every day.” The list and related stories will appear in the March 17 issue of Fortune and can be found online at http://money.cnn.com.
