Jobless claims fall again by 16,000 filings

U.S. workers filed 339,000 claims for unemployment benefits during the week ending April 20, which is down by 16,000 filings, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The reduction in claims is not as steep as the 42,000 drop experienced a week earlier, but does show at least two weeks of substantial declines.

Meanwhile, the four-week moving average for jobless claims came in at 357,500 filings, a decline of 4,500 claims from the prior week.
