Independence Realty Trust filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to raise up to $50 million in an initial public offering.

The real estate investment trust, which owns apartment properties, plans to list on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol ‘IRT.’

The joint bookrunners on the deal include Ladenburg Thalmann & Co., Compass Point and JMP Securities.
