Hope Now brings servicers to Long Island to aid in Sandy’s aftermath

Homeowners impacted by Hurricane Sandy had the chance to meet with housing counselors, mortgage servicers and insurance companies over the weekend when the HOPE NOW Alliance pulled together a special event to offer housing counseling.

HOPE NOW is an alliance of servicers and housing counseling groups that work together to assist troubled homeowners. This past weekend, the organization managed to bring together large servicers including Bank of America, Chase, CitiMortgage, GMAC Mortgage, Homeward Residential, HSBC, Nationstar, Ocwen, OneWest, PNC, Select Portfolio Servicing, Seterus, SunTrust, U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo.

Nearly 300 families showed up to receive counseling and advice in Westbury, New York.

The event was co-sponsored by New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, NeighborWorks America, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Long Island Housing Partnership and CDC Long Island.
