Foreclosure filings in Colorado drop to 5-year low

Foreclosure filings in Colorado metro counties fell 36.8% in November, the lowest level recorded for a single month since 2007, the Colorado Division of Housing said Wednesday.

Foreclosure auction sales also plummeted 31.8% year-over-year in November, declining from 1,290 sales to 880 sales last month.

“Declines in foreclosure filings have accelerated in recent months,” said Ryan McMaken, an economist for the Colorado Division of Housing. “There are still going to be some ups and downs, but declines in foreclosures this year have been larger than what we expected.”

The Colorado counties of Larimer – which is the seventh most populous county – and Boulder saw filings decline 17% and 18.5%, respectively, when comparing the first eleven months of the year to 2011 levels.
