Florida is having trouble escaping its foreclosure-ridden past.
The Miami Herald notes that Florida maintains the highest foreclosure inventory rate in the nation, with 8.8% of mortgaged homes in some state of foreclosure.
The publication says even more foreclosures are expected despite gains in the housing market over the last year.
