Florida Bar recommends punishment for David J. Stern

A Florida attorney once known as the ‘foreclosure king’ is facing possible discipline, maybe even the loss of his law license, after the Florida Bar recommended him for punishment this week.

The Florida Bar Association, which admits attorneys into practice in the state, officially filed a complaint against David J. Stern with the Florida Supreme Court.

The supreme court will make the final determination as to what Stern’s fate will be in the legal profession.

David J. Stern was known in Florida as much for his luxury lifestyle of yachts and courtside seats at basketball games as he was for the trail of legal issues that surrounded the foreclosure law firm he manned until facing the loss of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac‘s business amid allegations of sloppy foreclosure practices.

Seventeen complaints were filed against Stern with the Florida Bar Association. The organization found probable cause to pursue potential disciplinary actions against Stern based on investigations into those complaints.

Stern, for his part, is no less litigious.
