Elizabeth Warren named to Senate Banking Committee

It’s official. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., the architect of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, is going to serve on the Senate Banking Committee, according to the Washington Post.

Warren is known in the banking community for designing the CFPB and serving as its unofficial head prior to the appointment of Richard Cordray last year. Warren remained at the CFPB and as an advisor to the Treasury until the CFPB’s official launch in 2011.

Warren’s role on the Senate Banking Committee comes as a slew of CFPB rules — including the qualified mortgage rule and qualified residential mortgage — are about to be released in January.
