As Hurricane Sandy pushes through the Northeast, data firm CoreLogic (CLGX) estimates 284,000 properties with an approximate value of $87 billion remain at risk from high winds and storm surge.
“This is a large, slow-moving, persistent and dangerous storm. Its impacts are going to be far-reaching and no doubt very costly,” said Dr. Howard Botts, vice president and director of database development for CoreLogic Spatial Solutions.
The areas impacted will stretch from Virginia Beach to Boston, with both Washington D.C., New York City and Philadelphia in the impact zone.
CoreLogic’s estimations are based on projections that the storm will be a category 1 hurricane that maintains its current course across the Northeast.
