The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, continuing to fill out its staff, added a head for its diversity and inclusion programs Monday.

Stuart Ishimaru, a commissioner at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, will now lead the CFPB’s Office of Minority and Women Inclusion.

The agency said Ishimaru will oversee development of standards for racial, ethnic and gender diversity at the CFPB and financial institutions, as well as increased participation of minority- and women-owned business for CFPB contracts.

“Americans from all walks of life use consumer financial products and services,” CFPB Director Richard Cordray said in a news release. “We should strive to reflect that diversity because, in the end, it will only strengthen the work we do.”

Ishimaru also served as EEOC acting head from January 2009 to April 2010 and deputy assistant attorney general at the Department of Justice.

The CFPB formed the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion, per the Dodd-Frank Act, in January.
