The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau made some changes at its key leadership positions.
Stephen Van Meter will become the new deputy general counsel after joining the bureau last year as assistant general counsel for policy. He was previously at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for 14 years, where he served in the consumer law division.
Chris Lipsett will join the CFPB as senior counsel. He was a partner in the law firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, where he focused on regulatory and compliance matters. He had a focus on credit cards and represented major banks in consumer protection and disclosure cases.
Kelly Thompson Cochran becomes the acting assistant director for regulations at the bureau. She previously oversaw preparation of proposed and final rules as a deputy assistant. She was at the Treasury Department before joining the CFPB and held a general focus on consumer protection issues there.
Delicia Reynolds Hand will join the new staff director of the Consumer Advisory Boards and Council. She will coordinate the boards and councils, including those for community banks and credit unions.
