New federal budget cuts are jeopardizing housing vouchers for more than 700 low-income families in Riverside County, Calif., an article in U-T San Diego reports.
Sequestration is pulling $6 million from a $71 million program helping families in the area, the article says.
“These are trying times. We have never seen anything like this before. The bottom line is we’re going to have to downsize the cost of that program somehow,” said Heidi Marshall, an assistant director for the Economic Development Agency who oversees the county Housing Authority.
