Bank of America staff reduction hits hometown employees

Bank of America reduced the headcount in its hometown region of Charlotte, N.C, cutting dozens of jobs across multiple lines of business, the Charlotte Observer reported.

The mega bank has been reducing its employee count since 2011 and plans to eliminate 30,000 jobs companywide over the course of a few years. 

So far, Bank of America (BAC) has eliminated 27,000 jobs since Sept. 30, 2011, falling from 290,000 employees to 263,000 as of March 31, the article stated.
