North America is still viewed as having the best opportunities for real estate investors, a new report from Preqin says.

Data and intelligence firm Preqin studied the views of more than 200 investment consultants and found 76% of those interviewed have a favorable outlook when it comes to real estate investment opportunities in North America.

Meanwhile, Europe was viewed favorably by 49% of consultants, Asia received a solid review from 30% of consultants, followed by South America (16%) and the Middle East (3%).

Preqin notes that 69% of investment consultants offering real estate services are based in North America, of which 97% are located in the U.S.

“With confidence in the real estate asset class continuing to recover, and strategies higher up the risk/return spectrum being favoured by a significant proportion of consultants, it will be interesting to see whether the flow of capital into emerging market real estate increases and whether this leads to an increase in the number of local real estate consultants,” the company stated.

As the real estate markets become more established, it would be interesting to see if the larger, international consulting firms continue to be more prevalent in Asia and the rest of world region, Preqin concluded.
