[Video] To the future HUD Secretary, hereÕ a piece of advice from a former HUD Secretary

Former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros

Regardless of who is selected to be the future secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros has one key piece of advice that he would give to the next person that sits in the seat.

At the time of writing this, all signs point to President-elect Donald Trump choosing Ben Carson as the next HUD secretary.

On Tuesday, Trump tweeted that he’s “gotten to know (Carson) well” and feels he is a “greatly talented person who loves people.”

And it looks like Carson, a former neurosurgeon, is willing to accept. Carson himself took to Twitter and Facebook Wednesday to discuss the HUD offer and strongly intimated that he plans to accept the job.

So far, reports have also identified Pam Patenaude, who currently serves as the president of the J. Ronald Terwilliger Foundation for Housing America's Families, and Robert Woodson, who runs the Center for Neighborhood Enterprise in Washington, D.C., as potential HUD secretaries under Trump.

Former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros recently sat down with HousingWire at the J. Ronald Terwilliger Foundation for Housing America's Families Forum in Dallas on Nov. 18.

In his interview, as seen below, he notes that there were three or four possible secretaries of HUD at the event given the importance of it.

Carson, however, was not in attendance.

Watch the video for Cisneros’ response when asked, “As a former HUD Secretary, what advice would you give right now to the person stepping into that role?”
