Fortune names Quicken Loans the fifth best place to work in America

See who else in housing made the list

In addition to having the most satisfied customers of any mortgage service, according to J.D. Power 2015 U.S. Primary Mortgage Servicer Satisfaction Study, Detroit-based Quicken Loans was just named the fifth best place to work in America by Fortune. Several other companies in housing also made the list.

Fortune Magazine ranks the “100 best companies to work for” every year. The magazine analyzes factors such as health coverage, telecommuting, job sharing, onsite childcare, compressed work-weeks, paid sabbaticals, onsite fitness center and many others to determine its rankings.

This marks the 13th straight year that Quicken Loans has ranked in the top 30 of Fortune’s workplace study.

“Our team members know their opinion isn’t only welcome, but expected. From providing input on how to improve our existing business, to pitching a completely new company idea, our commitment to a culture of empowerment and innovation creates an atmosphere where hardworking, passionate team members can thrive,” said Bill Emerson, Quicken Loans chief executive officer.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our entire team,” Emerson said. “A strong culture sets the tone for a great workplace, but it’s the people who live and breathe that philosophy every day that make it truly special.”

According to the magazine’s survey, Quicken Loans team members rated the company’s work atmosphere at 99%. Additionally, 97% of team members say they are proud to work at the company.

The company credits its success to its platform for new ideas, called “The Cheese Factory,” and its internal “Pitch Day” competition, both of which encourage and reward team members for bringing forward ideas for new businesses and areas of improvement. The creation of Detroit’s first gigabit Internet provider, Rocket Fiber, was an idea generated from a Quicken Loans team member in the Cheese Factory.

These are the other 10 companies in housing that were ranked in the top 100 list:

  • #17 David Weekly Homes
  • #30 Veterans United Home Loans
  • #44 Navy Federal Credit Union
  • #51 Goldman Sachs
  • #59 Power Home Remodeling
