Founder of Manhattan Mortgage opens MC Home Loans

Melissa Cohn starts new New York City-based lender

Industry veteran Melissa Cohn, who founded and ran Manhattan Mortgage Company for nearly 30 years then left to serve as the president of GuardHill Financial, is opening a new mortgage company based in New York City.

Cohn recently opened the flagship office of MC Home Loans in midtown Manhattan.

In opening the new lender, Cohn will draw on her extensive industry experience. Cohn founded Manhattan Mortgage in 1985, selling the company to Guaranteed Rate in 2012.

In 2014, Cohn took over as president of GuardHill Financial.

Now, she’s opening up her own shop that will states it will offer borrowers the most competitive rates, coupled with a wide array of options tailored to fit the needs of all residential borrowers.

“We've taken the well-oiled machine that was Manhattan Mortgage and combined it with today's technology and additional banking resources to create MC Home Loans,” Cohn said. “We are thrilled to enter the marketplace.”

MC Home Loans will operate as a division of FM Home Loans.

“We know that the deal has to be done now, and we are only as good as our last mortgage,” Cohn said. “We will always treat each call with a sense of urgency, which is why our clients are clients for life.”

Cohn added, “Our job is to be able to provide current information on the mortgage rates and what's affecting them so you can make decisions about your loans when you need to. It's an exciting time to be in this space.”
