CoreLogic expands building permit database

Now features 35 different permit types

CoreLogic (CLGX), a property information, analytics and data-enabled services provider, announced Thursday that its building permit database now features 35 different permit types, covering 65% of the U.S. residential and commercial market.

According to CoreLogic, the company’s building permit database now boasts more than 28 million residential, commercial and industrial building permits.

The building permit database provides users access to comprehensive improvement data in a standardized format, the company said. The database also uses Assessor Parcel Numbers as well as standard addresses and latitude/longitude, which are all industry norms for property identification, to link to other CoreLogic property and mortgage datasets.

“This integration allows users to gain visibility into all relevant property and property transaction details related to a specific building permit or property improvement,” the company said in a release.

“Building permit data can provide critical insights into a variety of purchasing, marketing, financial and risk decisions,” said Randy Wussler, vice president, product general manager at CoreLogic. “Our database and standardized reporting makes accessing and consuming the information easier. It can also be validated and enhanced by integrating with other public property data to deliver customized solutions.”

CoreLogic added that its building permit database and the linkage provides property intelligence necessary to assess risk and opportunity to a variety of industry stakeholders, including appraisers, direct marketers, homebuyers, lenders, realtors, property insurers, servicers and secondary market participants.
