GuardHill Financial names Melissa Cohn president

Company plans expansion

GuardHill Financial, a New York City-based mortgage banker and mortgage company, has named Melissa Cohn as the company’s new president. In this role, Cohn will lead the company’s day-to-day operations and “help drive forward the strategic vision for the company,” GuardHill said in a release.

“We are very pleased to have someone so talented serve in a prominent leadership position at the company,” said Alan Rosenbaum, GuardHill’s CEO and founder.

“GuardHill has been head-quartered in New York City for 22 years specializing in prime residential mortgages with annual originations in excess of $1 billion. With Melissa joining the firm, we will continue to expand nationally.”

Cohn brings 30 years of experience to GuardHill. Prior to joining GuardHill, Cohn held various positions throughout the mortgage industry. She originated her first loan in 1985 to start the Manhattan Mortgage Company.

Earlier in her career, Cohn was awarded several accolades, including Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Metro New York, and has ranked as top originator in the nation numerous times since 1996, GuardHill said.

Cohn is also a former governor of the Real Estate Board of New York.

“GuardHill is the dominant player in the New York residential real estate mortgage market, and I look forward to broadening and expanding an already strong brand,” Cohn said.
