Industry veteran Larry Walker has joined KPMG as a managing director in the firm’s mortgage and consumer lending group. In this new role, Walker will assist clients in mortgage and consumer lending business process improvement, compliance with new regulations, and transaction execution.

Additionally, Walker, who brings more than 30 years of experience to KPMG, will provide financial institutions with technology and business strategy assistance.

“Larry’s unique background combining top level hands-on mortgage industry operational and consulting experience is indispensable to our clients as they seek critical assistance navigating the complex mortgage and consumer lending market,” said Mark Twerdok, KPMG partner.

Prior to joining KPMG, Walker was a senior consultant at Newbold Advisors, where he assisted some of the country’s largest mortgage lenders and servicers with new regulation and in the execution of operational improvements.

Earlier in his career, Walker served as president and CEO of the mortgage division of Beal Bank. Walker has also served as a managing director at Electronic Data Systems, where he successfully led industry-changing innovations highlighted by the implementation of automated underwriting for U.S. mortgage lenders and the development of Mortgage Electronic Registrations Systems, an industry-wide utility for tracking and trading lien holder rights.

“The need for well-informed consumer credit risk guidance has intensified due to the constantly changing regulations governing mortgage and consumer lending,” Twerdok added.

“It is imperative that we have the knowledge and experience of industry professionals such as Larry to guide mortgage and consumer lending organizations through the changing financial, regulatory and operational requirements brought about by new reforms and regulations.”
