Realogy is one of the comeback kids of the housing economy. It was no small measure, either. As the market crashed in 2008 and house prices started falling, the company — at the time only recently purchased by Apollo Global Management — was on the brink.
It is the parent of such common brand names as Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate, CENTURY 21, Coldwell Banker and Sotheby’s International Realty. Late last year, it launched a successful IPO, raising $1.1 billion. That was then, and this now.
And as it positions itself as a true market leader, Tanya Reu is busy making a name for the company — both at the level of the Realogy Franchise Group and at its parent Realogy Corp. — in promoting diversity in the company workforce.
“One of her primary focuses is to drive business results through effective workforce diversity and outreach efforts,” a company spokesperson said. “She does this through a keen focus on educating the industry on the importance of diversifying the agent and affiliate network and collaborating with brand leadership and strategic partners such as NAHREP, AREAA, NGLCC, NAREB and others to offer solutions and services that support diverse communities.”
Realogy says she has helped the company grasp the significance of the minority market segments. And it’s bearing some fruit, the company concedes. “Reu’s leadership of Realogy’s multicultural markets strategy is aggressively positioning the company’s portfolio of brands to embrace the new wave of Hispanic, Asian and African American home buyers who are expected to dominate the housing market in the coming decade.”
It’s a sure sign the firm is ready for the demographics of the future.
