Section 8 tenants face hurdles in securing housing

Investors hesitant to accept tenants

According to Bloomberg, renters with a Section 8 housing vouchers are finding it difficult to secure housing since some investors do not want to take on the stigma of renting to poor tenants and the potential for extra costs. The publication has more:

“It’s a really uphill battle dealing with these investors,” said LaTanya Moore-Newsome, a real estate agent with Century 21 in Atlanta. “You already have to deal with some of the issues with owners not wanting to take Section 8 in nicer areas. Now you have these big companies come into their neighborhoods and they say we’re not renting to you either.”
