New Illinois law protects renters after foreclosure

Governor signs tenant rights bill into law

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed a bill into law that protect renters whenever their apartment complex or building lands in foreclosure, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.

The publication has more on the bill:

"The foreclosure crisis has been devastating to homeowners as well as many families living in rental homes who are at risk of losing their home due to no fault of their own," Quinn said in a statement. "This law will ensure renters are protected from sudden forced moves that can be costly and disruptive."
