Hovnanian reports quarterly net loss due to rising home sales

Hovnanian Enterprises ($6.10 0.16%) posted a net loss for the three months ended Jan. 31 of $11.3 million, or $0.8 cents a share, compared with $18.3 million, or $0.17 a share, a year earlier.
The company reported a narrower loss for its first fiscal quarter as sales and orders increased during a housing recovery.
