Citi tops chart in REIT equity deals

Citigroup ($51.45 0.84%) became the top equity underwriter for real-estate investment trusts in 2012, grabbing the No. 1 spot from Bank of America Merrill Lynch ($13.43 0.07%), the longtime leader of the business.
"We decided we were going to increase our capital commitment to the REIT sector because we felt confident we could manage the risk," said Thomas Flexner, global head of real estate for Citigroup.
