U.S. senator sounds the alarm on mortgage debt relief law

U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow penned an op-ed this week, asking lawmakers to ensure the mortgage foregiveness debt relief law is extended.
For distressed homeowners in her state, the law saves them thousands of dollars in potential tax liabilities when having home loan debt forgiven through a short-sale or some other transaction.
