Richard Cordray: Goal is to restore trust in the mortgage market

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau director Richard Cordray told the New York Times this week that his agency’s goal is “to remake the process of getting a mortgage.”

The director said he wants to show the markets and public that the bureau can help consumers without burdening banks with excessive amounts of red tape.
