Homebuilders turn profit on lending revenue

The Federal Reserve’s initiatives to increase home lending through low interest rates and accommodative policy has buoyed the earnings of homebuilders that benefit from revenue gains within their lending units, Businessweek reported.

Apparently, builders with lending units are seeing lucrative lending returns in a market where the Fed is trying to drive a recovery through housing.

Businessweek reports that PulteGroup (PHM) alone saw its mortgage revenue grow 70% in the third-quarter, which is six times higher than its revenue gain from home sales alone, according to Businessweek.
