U.S. Senate Democrats on Thursday rejected Republicans’ calls to have a commission lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, setting the stage for a brawl over the confirmation of CFPB director Richard Cordray, whose controversial recess appointment will expire at the end of the year.
