[Video] Is the market ready for the coming increase in households?

“We need it all over the next decade”

The year 2026 really isn’t that far away when it comes to planning for the housing market.

There are more than 70 million Millennials who want to enter the housing market in the near future, and this is on top of the other generations that are already moving around in the housing market.

Lynn Fisher, the Mortgage Bankers Association’s vice president of research and economics, recently sat down with HousingWire at the J. Ronald Terwilliger Foundation for Housing America's Families Forum in Dallas on Nov. 18 to talk about the coming increase in households over the next decade.

In the interview, she explains whether or not the housing market is ready, along with what needs to be done.

“Depending on whose estimate you’re looking at, we’re talking about 13 million to 16 million additional households in the U.S.,” she said. “And the question is ‘How are we going to actually deliver housing units for all of these people?’”
