Jobless claims fall, beating market expectations

According to Bloomberg, jobless claims fell more than forecasted last week, with filings for unemployment falling by 6,000 applications to 331,000 for the week ended Aug. 24, the Departmemt of Labor said.

"Claims continue to trend down and hiring intentions continue to trend up,” Neil Dutta, head of U.S. economics at Renaissance Macro Research LLC in New York, said before the report. “Fewer firings and more hirings should mean stronger employment growth."
