Real estate investment stocks may have endured their worst quarter in almost two years, but try telling that to optimistic analysts.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, some market observers are predicting an 11-15% return for REIT investors this year.

Equity hawks had dumped REIT stocks on worries over rising interest rates and their potential affect on the commercial real estate recovery, the newspaper reported.

The analysts say the economy will continue on an upward trajectory — but not at a pace that will lead to a sharp northward turn in interest rates. The general viewpoint on those partaking in the REIT stock dump then: drama queens, it would seem.
